Creating new recipes?

Post by Trendane » Sun Mar 28, 2010 6:39 pm

Since I'm kind of curious about building and whatnot with NWN, particularly where crafting is involved, I pulled down the Ambrosia Tradeskill System to look it over and see if it could get me at least pointed in the right direction.

Of course, as soon as I mentioned that to Bane over on IRC...it was like I'd just welded a crucifix to the forehead of Dracula or something (okay...not that strong of a reaction) and he recommended that I make a post asking for any pointers which would help.

So....any pointers?

For the LCC system, you can have up to 4 ingredients and a spell.

One key is to try to tailor the ingredients to the power of the item. You don't want a more powerful item to be made from resources easily gathered around Hope.

Be sure to look at the old  LCC workbook in google docs to get an idea of what is already in.

We need some more general clothing (belts, boots, cloaks) and jewelry.

When you say cloaks, are there any specific cloaks needed to protect a PC from the elements? (ie. cold weather)

Sure, I was thinking of two, a winter wolf type cloak and a polar (bear) cloak that would give a little more protection. Anything like that ;)

Where would you like the recipe suggestions posted?

I'd also like to offer up with a few more recipes for the Chef's Pot. I'm at level 4 in cooking and the only option is still Common Healing Salve. Seems like a bit of a one-trick pony for a cooking station. So, if there are no objections, let me know where to submit those as well.

Sounds great. :)

Bane, do you want to make a place for recipe submissions?

No problem - where would like the forums and permission types (i.e., open to all)

Here in the Builder's Gateway makes sense to me. I don't think we have to consider the recipes as 'spoiler' material. So, there shouldn't be too much need to keep it hidden, per se.

I'm tempted to say that we can just have one thread and post all proposed recipes in there. The ones we like, can get added to a Google spreadsheet with the name, four components, spell and intended effect as columns (if folks want to go that route). I don't think we'll have so many recipes as to require a separate thread for each tradeskill.
